Our Warfare Arsenals

Our Warfare Arsenals

“Our Warfare Arsenals”

I will be dealing with “the weaons of our warfare” as Christians. What I do here is just giving you tips of the iceberg. Now, my scripture is found in 2Corinthians 10: 3-6

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled

Though, Paul was talking primarily about an incident that involved him directly but it refers to us too. We Christians are mortals, like other men; and being in the flesh, we are imperfect and frail like others. We do not claim exemptions from the common wants and frailties of nature. We do not do battle with the physical man.

We battle against all forms of evil as soldiers of Christ. 2Timothy 2:3-4 says “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” The warfare of Christians relates to the following points:

(1) It is warfare with the corrupt desires and sensual propensities of the heart; with internal corruption and depravity; with the remaining un-subdued propensities of a fallen nature. “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us…“ Hebrews 12:1

(2) With the powers of darkness–the mighty spirits of evil that seek to destroy us. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6:11-17

(3) With sin in all forms; with idolatry, sensuality, corruption, intemperance, profanity, wherever they may exist. We are opposed to all these; and it is the aim and purpose of our lives, as far as we may be able, to resist and subdue them. We are soldiers, enlisted under the banner of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, to oppose and resist all forms of evil. But our warfare is not conducted on worldly principles.

What is happening today with the rise of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria popularly known as (ISIS) is just a continuum of their founder. Mohammed propagated his Islam religion with the sword; and mortal men seek for victory by arms and violence.  The Christian looks for his conquests only by the force and power of the truth (Jesus), and by the agency of the Spirit of God. When we are pressured by evil, we deal with the spirit that enables it spiritually, with all forms of prayers.

If you notice in Ephesians 6:10-18 the bible says

v.10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his mightLet your strength be in the Lord and depend on His ability. This is what that means. And in Ephesians 1:19-21; “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come” halleluiah! This is the only place in scripture where you find the whole ability of the Lord God put together ultimately for the salvation of the Christian when He raised Christ from the dead. (The six underlined and bold words) God made that power available to you the Christian just for the asking (see Ephesians 3:16-19; Colossians 1:11) we have no business being scared. You say “ah but you don’t know what they can do” that is because you are not connected to the POWER HOUSE yet. The Psalmist says “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 if He is your insurance what is your fear about, where is it coming from? I believe you know. 2Timothy 1:7 it says “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” So, fear is definitely not from God. Colossians 3:3 says “For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God” you see? Before anyone or anything can get to you they have the Almighty God, the most High to deal with first. Even when you step out of His protection on a self imposed “hadj” (Trip into sin) Sin is the fastest vehicle that could take you there, when you break your fellowship with the Lord through sin. He still has His loving Spirit nudging you to come home. That is why He encourages you in Verse 11 of Ephesians to: “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” Not some but all. Paul went further to detail what armor to wear. See these other scriptures as well in Romans 13:12The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” “But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.”1Thessalonians 5:8.

Ephesians 6:12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

This verse is a whole sermon in itself. It outlines the category of the Christian’s enemies. Vs13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand”. Paul repeats his admonition here “the whole armor of God” you must remain alert haven gotten a particular victory, for the devil does not relent in his attack at the child of God, not just that 2Timothy 2:4 says “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier”. A soldier is trained to defend his country at all cost, kill, destroy and totally annihilate the enemy at war times these are usually the orders he willingly consented to.

You are a soldier, a spiritual one for that matter, perpetually in the battle front, against a ruthlessly ruthless and deceptive enemy. A nation usually has both offensive and defensive strategies for her people. Now notice the arsenals at the Christians disposal.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (Isaiah 11:5; 59:17; Luke 12:35; 2Corinthians 6:7; 1Thessalonians 5:8; 1Peter 1:13)

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; (Isaiah 52:7; Romans 10:15)

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (1John 5:4)

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

(Isaiah 59:17; 1Thessalonians 5:8; Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 1:16; 2:16; 19:15)

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Did you notice the areas protected? First you are supposed to be standing in readiness for battle then starting from your loins (stomach area) your chest, feet, a shield (defense against missiles) your head with a helmet and only one offensive weapon, a sword of the spirit THE WORD OF GOD (JESUS) the ultimate. Did you notice nothing covers any part of your back directly? Why? Simple, there are no sissies in God’s army. We are meant to stand toe to toe, eyeball to eyeball against Satan’s onslaught. We have been guaranteed the victory even before any of our battles begin. He is just a noise maker, toothless bulldog if you may, looking for whom to mess up. 1Peter 5:8 confirms that, he encourages us to “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” Jesus is the “author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2) He began the race for us, we come in, do our best then He rounds it up perfectly for us.

Let us see those protected areas and weapon one by one.  First it says to “STAND”. The GREEK word translated there is “histemi” (pronounced his’-tay-mee) meaning to stand transitively you know, like the martial artist stance for battle and may I add, be super glued to the ground, “gidigba” unmovable. Maintain your territorial integrity, bottom line.

Then it says your “LOINS” (stomach area) wrapped with Truth. And put on the “breastplate of righteousness” (it covers the chest). That means you should have integrity. You should be dependable. That is, with truthfulness, sincerity, a good conscience. See also (2Corinthians 1:12; 1Titus 1:5,18 3:9 Isaiah 11:5). Like the ancient Jew, Truth is the band that girds up and keeps together our “flowing robes” of righteousness, so the Christian soldier may be ever ready for action unencumbered.

Your “FEET” bound unto the shoe of the gospel of peace. Then, the Geek soldiers used to bind onto their feet shoes for war, they were made of two parts. Like today shoe tops are made of leather or some kind of synthetic material and the sole out of rubber, cork or leather etc. For the Greek, their war shoes/boots were in two parts as well…

(1.) The sandals, or shoes, which were made so as to cover the foot. The soles often were fitted with nails, or armed with spikes, to make the hold firm in the ground. (Not spikes to aid running away); or

(2.) With greaves (like today’s laced up boots) that were fitted to the legs, and designed to protect them from any danger to their shin. These greaves, or boots, see 1Samuel 17:6, were made of brass, and were in almost universal use among the Greeks and Romans those days

With the “PREPARATION”. Prepared with the gospel of peace. The sense is that the Christian soldier is to be prepared with the gospel of peace against attacks similar to those which the ancient soldier boots were designed to guard him with. The Greek word translated preparation is hetoimasia (pronounced “het-oy-mas-ee’-ah”) means properly, readiness, fitness for, alacrity. The idea is that the Christian is to be ever ready to go forth to preach the gospel. Instead of the steel and spikes on the soles we are to have firm footing, be grounded in the scriptures, in the gospel of peace which, like the boots worn by soldiers, would bear us safe through many obstructions and trials that might be opposed to us, as a soldier might encounter sharp-pointed thorns that would oppose his progress. Christians are not to be equipped with carnal weapons, but with the peaceful gospel of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Amen!

The principles of the gospel of peace are to do for us what the boots and iron-spiked sandals did for the soldier to make them ready for the march, to make them firm in their foot-tread, and to be a part of their defense against their foes. We are to be ready always to deliver the word of God wherever we go both verbally and in our actions. Romans 10:15

“ABOVE ALL” Not above as in point of importance or value, but over all as in when a soldier holds his shield to defend himself. “Shield of Faith” the Greek word translated shield there is thureos pronounced (thoo-reh-os’) meaning a large shield (as the shape of a door-) A shield is a protection over every part of a soldiers body, as it can be turned in every direction. The idea is that as the shield covered or protected the other parts of the armor, so faith has a similar importance in the Christian’s life.

With the shield of faith you are a victor already. The fiery darts, all the missiles from the enemy are stopped from reaching you Hallelujah!  You literally extinguish all the fires by faith.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The head is the most important and vulnerable part of the body, when smashed or severed from the neck that ends the life of the individual. Head injuries are not things to toy with. That is why there is the Helmet of salvation. Salvation was wrought by the blood of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. It is as a helmet that protects the head; an impenetrable one, that the blow of the battle-axe cannot scratch. It is the hope of continual safety and protection, built on the unshakable and the irrevocable promises of God “which is the hope of salvation.” 1Thessalonians. 5:8

First it says, “TAKE” in Greek-(dechomai) meaning “accept” or “receive” the Lord is offering salvation as your helmet, the head protection. Notice it is to be worn on the head, not in a secrete or private place that is only seen by the wearer. Our salvation is what we must display to the public in our day to day interactions with people. We are the light of the world. You cannot light a candle and then cover it up. It is meant to give illumination. So it is placed on some sort of pedestal where you can maximize its luminance. Matthew 5:15. The book of first Peter rightly puts it thus 1Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light We are the ones divinely mandated to be in the “show business” Not as the world knows and parades it today, but for the glory of the kingdom of God. How much of that do you do? It’s up to you. Now back to the subject of today.

The word translated SALVATION is the Greek word “soterion”, pronounced (so-tay’-ree-on) meaning defender or defense. Just like the helmet is worn for protection/defense if you may against missiles, the salvation wrought by the Lord Jesus Christ is the defense for the Christian.
Whoever wants to access these defenses and weapon of the Spirit must first be a “registered” (Revelation 20:15) born again Christians, for Paul was addressing the church in Ephesus. The head is the seat of the mind which controls the rest of the body, if not protected by the salvation of the Lord any imaginary trash can access it feeding it with contrary views. That is why you need to “…be renewed in the spirit of your mind” Ephesians 4:23 read the word, study it to get grounded so you don’t get pushed around by the devil. You will even get to know your rights in Christ.

The word “renewed” there is the Greek word “ananeoo” (an-an-neh-o’-o) meaning to renovate or reform, like the builder pulls down parts of a building for reconstruction by setting his blocks one after the other on top of each other.  Speaking in tongues helps build us up. (Jude1:20) As we read and meditate on the word of God prayerfully daily, the Lord helps us to pull down those areas that are not in conformity with His word as He helps us rebuild the new part that is after His heart. This happens only if and when we are willing to let go and let Him have His way. After all, we were created solely for Him. (Colossians 1:16, Revelation 4:11) If we claim to be born again then we belong to Him wholly for we were bought at a price- His precious Blood on the Cross of Calvary.  1Corinthians 6:20.

But He can only occupy just the space we make for Him in our lives. Even at that, He nudges us on trying to help us create opportunities to bless us, if we are willing because without our consent and cooperation He cannot do anything, Amen.

Now, in that same verse, we are given the only offensive weapon, the “sword of the spirit” the word of God. After you are covered in all of these armors, you include the most potent, the word of God which is the sword of the Spirit. We are told in:

Hebrews 2:12. That “the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”

Now in this case not just any sword but the most versatile incredibly powerful and deadly one called in the Greek language (Machaira) pronounced (makh’-ahee-rah) Judicial punishment.

Unlike the other types of swords that are long, the “Michaira” is short and double edged, approximately 18” long.  Like an over sized dagger. It was best for a close up battle because it worked like an extension of the arm. The Machiara was an effective and devastating weapon and quite capable of shearing a bronze helmet. The Greeks were feared warriors, with spear and shield being the primary weapon and armor. However, once the battle had joined and became hand-to-hand, the Machaira was available to strike terror into the toughest foe. That was the Machaira. The word of God is even more deadly than the Machaira in the hands of the toughest and most dreaded army.

We are not dealing with physical beings but spiritual intelligences. The weapons cannot be physical. It is the sword of the spirit to deal spiritually with these extraterrestrial beings. The two sides of the sword acts as the “punisher” and the “rewarder” like LAW and GRACE.
When the Christian gets into warfare with the devil and his cohorts, the word deals deadly blows at him like when Jesus was in the wilderness fasting, He used the word to defeat Satan. Same word of God is used to bless and protect the believer. The two edges of the word of God serve two purposes. One as life giver and the other side a destroyer to whatever is opposed to God

The “WORD” here is “Logos” the written word of God. (You could say JESUS and still be in line John 1:1-18) “Quick” means it is alive. Hallelujah! The word is ALIVE (JESUS). How does the written word come alive? When it is spoken by the believer in FAITH, our faith is that of confession. God says a thing; you cannot fault it nor are you supposed to understand it. There is nowhere in the bible where it says to understand the word. That will not be faith. It says BELIEVE and receive the word. That is the only way to get going. Remember Hebrews 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”

Then it says it is “POWERFUL”. The Greek word there is energes, pronounced (en-er-gace’) meaning active, operative:–effectual. It is able to produce the desired result. Praise God! We are not sitting ducks for the devil’s shooting practice. Unfortunately most of us Christians still fall prey to his shenanigans. But it does not have to continue that way. There is power in the spoken word of the believer if spoken in faith. Take up your very well thought out armor, occupy your territory and posses your possessions. Ephesians 5:14 says “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light”.
Remember, there are no sissies in God’s army, Hallelujah!
It is written that the people of God are “destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea. 4:6)   not because it is not available but because knowingly or unknowingly we reject the truth even after we are born again. We want to deal with God according to the world’s definition of the decorum that marks a lady or a gentleman. But you are dealing with your creator, the epitome of love itself. What has He not seen, what does He not know about us? We are to ‘soak’ ourselves in the word, be knowledgeable in the things of God. The psalmist said in the book of Psalms 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” The word of God illuminates our path that we travel in and shows us the right way to go. He teaches us how to apply the word correctly

God does not want us to be ignorant about anything, especially not about Him. We need to have a growing understanding of the nature of the conflict we are in. Otherwise we will not be able to determine the source of the suggestions within us. In warfare, soldiers obey the orders of their commanding officers, they trust his judgment and put their lives in his hands. A major part of our challenge is first knowing who is talking, which spirit is motivating us to behave or act in a certain way, and to respond intelligently in the light of what God reveals. We must develop spiritual discernment. One of Satan’s major strategies is to keep us from really perceiving with our hearts who God truly is. That is why Paul said our weapons cast down every high thing which exalts itself against the knowledge of God. But that is still to come. In the 18th verse of Ephesians 6 we read…

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

It starts with “Praying Always”. In 1Thessalonians 5:17 it says “Pray without ceasing” Without going into any big Greek grammar here, I want to believe we all know what it means to pray. Simply put- talking to God. That means talk to God always. Develop a rapport with Him to the extent that you readily can generally gist with Him. He is your father, not just a father but a loving heavenly father. He is your creator who earnestly wants you to succeed in life. Tender all those cares before Him. You cannot say you are hearing this for the first time for preachers say it all the time but how often do we do it? We take our issues to people first and when it appears nothing is happening, we now remember the Lord. Meanwhile Peter already told us “Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you” 1Peter 5:7 “oh what a friend we have in Jesus” ask Him to help you be who He wants you to be.

Then it goes on to say “with all prayer and supplication” it is not the time to just mumble stuff in two minutes and think we have prayed. We need to engage the whole of our being into this. Lock out the man and get in the spirit. Trash out whatever it is fearlessly. It is time to boldly stand and declare our stand. Pull yourself out of the well of despondency. Get off those slimy terrains of lackadaisical attitudes. This is no time to display any unsolicited exhibition of laxity expecting God to understand. Of course He understands. He understands that you are just a spoilt brat, like an over fed baby that is so satisfied with the food in her stomach she forgets that it is just for a while before the pangs of hunger strikes again and yes, she cries again for food not knowing where or how the food gets to her. She still gets to eat for she does not know more than “GI ME GI ME GI ME” The difference is, we are not babies. This warfare requires matured children of God to deal with the situation. We cannot continue to be babies even after over a year we have received Jesus as our Lord and Savor.

This type of prayer requires our whole being because it is a battle like I said before. We are to do this consistently, all the time, nonstop. I can never over emphasize this. Our victory is assured. This is the only race you are declared a winner before you participate. But you still need to, to determine the quality of price you get.

If you go back to 2Corinthians 10: 5 it says “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”. The Greek word translated “CASTING” is the word kathaireo, pronounced (kath-ahee-reh’-o) it means to lower with violence, demolish literally or figuratively and destroy. Hallelujah!

According to Merriam Webster’s dictionary, violence means “exertion of physical force so as to injure or abuse (as in warfare effecting illegal entry into a house) 2: injury by or as if by distortion, infringement, or profanation: OUTRAGE 3 a: intense, turbulent, or furious and often destructive action or force the violence of the storm” Again, remember, there are no sissies in God’s army, Hallelujah!

You see, thoughts of the mind create us, it makes you see things. The bible tells us that “a man becomes and behaves the way he thinks” Proverbs. 23:7 sometimes crazy imaginations get into our heads to suggest stuff that we know cannot be to the glory of God. It is our responsibility to hack it down. Human actions start from our inner thoughts because that is the way we are built. Whatever actions good or bad always start from what we are thinking. A Christ centered individual should always act by first asking “if this is what Christ would have me do”. Being Christ centered means to also be scriptural and biblically motivated. If we are to be Christian people who are in possession of a great deal of discernment and can stand our ground under any provocation then we must be a scriptural and biblically oriented people. Everyone starts with some basic presuppositions and moves from these to actions.  As Christian soldiers we are to be battle ready all the time, focus on our Lord and master Jesus. Philippians 4:8 tells us what to dwell on “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”. So, when your thoughts stray, literarily yell at it and confess what you know is right. David wrote in Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” the word of God is always our “gyrostat” our stabilizer and defense. Faith and fear work exactly alike. One is positive and the other negative. You get what you confess in faith or in fear. Job said in Job 3:25 “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me” the word of God spoken in Faith is sharper than any two edged sword. God said in the book of Jeremiah 1:10 “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant” God was talking to the children of Israel but we have been adopted and are now today’s spiritual Israel by faith in the finished work of the cross.  Jesus said in John 20:21 “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you” Hallelujah!!!

In other words He says “I am not taking away anything from what God, my father gave me. As He laid it on me is exactly the same way I am giving it to you”. That is just to paraphrase it. Why? It is simple, because we are His body here on earth, Hallelujah!!! An extension of Him. Praise the Lord! In Matthew. 28:18 we read “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” Hallelujah!!! Beloved, what else do we need? He gave us all that was given Him by the father. That is why we should be bold enough to “come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” Hebrews 4:16 we pray speaking words of faith from the word of God. Get into speaking in tongues; make it a habit, at all times. You connect better in tongues than in your understanding 1Corinthians.14:14 “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful”. Again, you cannot miss the target by praying in tongues. Romans. 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Hallelujah!

Ephesians. 6:18 it says… “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”

With all kinds of prayer; in the closet, with family members, at social meetings, in the Church; prayer at the usual hours, prayer when tempted, and when we feel just like praying, prayer in the form of supplication for ourselves, and in the form of intercession for others. Make speaking in tongues a habit for there the verse says “in the Spirit” you connect better. This is the great weapon of our spiritual armor, and by this we prevail.  “And watching thereunto”. for opportunities to pray; watching for the spirit of prayer; watching against all those things which would hinder prayer. Pray “With all perseverance”, do not be discouraged nor disheartened. “And supplication for all saints”, we should do this for all Christians.

John G. Lake said: “Christianity is a divine content. Christianity is heavenly dynamite. Christianity is the ultimate of all consciousness of God. Christianity is wholly supernatural. Christianity comes down from heaven from the innermost heart of the glorified Christ. Christianity is in the innermost and uttermost of man declaring: I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.’ (Revelation. 1:18). Christianity is the spotless descent of God into man, and the sinless ascent of man into God. The Holy Spirit is the agent by Whom it is accomplished.”

Is this true for us today? Do we walk in power in this world? When we pray do the earth and sky obey? Does the devil know who we are? Does sickness flee at our word? We have the authority and power to do all this in Jesus. In Acts 1:8 it says “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”

The enabler called the HOLY SPIRIT was sent to us to make sure we were not just tinkling cymbals. He helped them then to portray the Lord in the best light. He is very available today for the willing Christian who would take up his Amor as a spiritual soldier for the Lord. People, we are in a big spiritual battle. A lot of believers don’t seem to know that to be a Christian is to engage in a warfare like I told you in the earlier part of this topic, not just the prosperity of material things. The Bible describes that warfare. Paul wrote to a young preacher named Timothy,in 1Timothy. 1:18 he said, “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;” He was saying, “Young man, you are in a battle, in a warfare, and it is not going to be any picnic or a happy go lucky rigmarole.” Paul wrote to this same young preacher saying “Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ” (2 Timothy. 2:3).

I can never overstate this part. Now what are soldiers for? Soldiers are not just to be on parade. (like we do most times) They are to carry guns and fight. Soldiers are to engage in a warfare, defend a nation’s territorial integrity when the need arises. Ours is a bit more severe for we are at war people, all the time. We need to fight to “posses our possessions” Obadiah 1:17 we fight to break the bondage of that sin of laziness or that other one that easily besets us. You know what it is. Even selfishness, when was the last time you set out to speak to an unbeliever about the Lord? That is the least we can do. It is a must for every believer. It is the ministry we have all been given to fulfill. 2Corinthians 5:18 “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath GIVEN TO US the ministry of reconciliation” we can’t all be Pastors, Evangelists or Prophets but we must be witnesses for Him.

After the Lord ascended into heaven, the disciples scattered all over the place from persecution and the ones that went to Antioch got named after the Lord Jesus for the people saw they bore witness of their master in teachings, miracle working and life style and in essence nicknamed them Christians. (Acts.11:26)

That same thing will not happen to us until we believers personally receive that power in ourselves and allow Him use us as a willing tool and vessel exploding into action. Have you asked “to be endowed with power from on high”? He is waiting for a willing vessel. Acts 1:8. Has the power of God thrilled your heart and filled you with glory? If not why not? If not now – when? If not you – who? There is incredible power for anyone who really believes the word and will act on it.

If you would look up all these references Luke 18:1; 21:36; Romans 12:12; Ephesians 6:18; Colosians 4:2; 1Peter 4:7 they all talk about prayers. Why that? Because Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.

This topic is inexhaustible but the bottom line is this “Pray without ceasing”. 1Thessalonians. 5:17

Again, remember, there are no sissies in God’s army, Hallelujah!
