The Anointing

The Anointing

The Anointing

I want to attempt scratching the surface of this subject, though I have dealt with it before, I feel compelled to revisit it. “The Anointing”  and how we view and use it today. It is vast but I will attempt bringing out the basics that we must know about. By the grace of God with the help of the Holy Spirit at your quiet time He will bring you to the knowledge of all truths. I will be dealing with questions like:

“What is the anointing? What does it mean to be anointed? Who or what is “anointable?”
This is one of the most overused, abused and misunderstood terms within the Pentecostal and Charismatic circles.  You hear people make statements such as “that service was anointed” and “that brother was flowing in the anointing or that man of God is highly anointed.” Or you have ‘anointed’ pieces of cloth, anointed oil, and even anointed meals! In fact, we anoint just about everything with oil, including our homes, cars, spouses, and pets. If we are dealing with serious spiritual issues in our lives, we are advised to sprinkle the ‘anointing oil’ in our homes to ward off evil spirits. One preacher that I know takes this one step further, throws or blows “the anointing” at people, who then physically fall over as in “slain in the spirit”.

What is the anointing and how did it start?

Well, let’s start from the beginning of it all. The origin of anointing was from a practice of shepherds. Lice and other insects would often get into the wool of sheep, and when they got near the sheep’s head, they could burrow into the sheep’s ears and eventually kill the sheep. So, ancient shepherds poured oil on the sheep’s head. This made the wool slippery, making it impossible for insects to get near the sheep’s ears because they would just slide off. From this, anointing with oil became symbolic of blessing, protection, and empowerment.

The New Testament Greek words for “anoint” are “chrio”, which means “to smear or rub with oil, and by implication to consecrate for office or religious service”; and “aleipho”, which means “to anoint.” In Bible times, people were anointed with oil to signify God’s blessing or the call on that person’s life

There were three different types of anointing in the Old Testament.

First was the anointing of the priests. Leviticus 8:12, “And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.” It is noteworthy that this anointing took place only one time for each priest.

Second, there was the anointing of the kings. I Samuel 16:13, “Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.” This anointing was likewise a one-time ritual.

Third, there was the anointing of the prophets. I Kings 19:16, “And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel- meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.” Again, it took place only one time for each prophet.

Only four New Testament passages refer to the practice of anointing with oil. You can find the verses in:

Mark 6:13; “And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.” the disciples anointed the sick and healed them.

In Luke 7:46; “My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.” Mary anointed Jesus’ feet as an act of worship.

In James 5:14; “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:” The church elders anointed the sick with oil for healing.

In Hebrews 1:8-9; God says to Jesus as He returns triumphantly to Heaven, “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

The question is should Christians use anointing oil today?

There is nothing in Scripture that commands or even suggests that we should use similar oil today, but neither is there anything to forbid it. Oil is often used as a symbol for the Holy Spirit in the Bible as in the parable of the wise and foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1-13). As such, Christians have the presence of the oil of the Spirit who leads us into all truth and anoints us continually with His grace and comfort. “But ye have an unction (another word for anointing) from the Holy One, and ye know all things.” (1 John 2:20). “… But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you…” 1 John 2:27  “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

Now, from the Old to the New Testament there are three different types of anointing namely

The OIL anointing: Leviticus 8:12, “And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.”

The DOVE anointing: Matt3:16 “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a DOVE, and lighting upon him” and

The FIRE anointing: Acts 2:1-4 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.

Like I said earlier, there is nothing in Scripture that commands or even suggests using or not to use, but we must be able to differentiate the oil anointing from the anointing of the Holy Ghost, that way, we will not make the mistake of ascribing to one the place of the other for the things of God must “…be done decently and in order..”  1Corinthians 14:40 Just as the scriptures were written “For precept must be upon precept; line upon line…” Isaiah 28:10

All these anointing happened only one time apiece. But when our Lord Jesus was here, He was not just a Priest but the “High Priest of our profession” (Hebrews 3:1), King and Prophet at the same time. So He had to receive all three anointing. Below are a few New Testament scriptures on the subject.

He was anointed As a Prophet Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

Luke 24:19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people

Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: Who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the Devil; for God was with Him.”

As a PrIest Hebrews 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Hebrews 4:14 “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.”

As a King Acts 4:27, “For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, Whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together.”

“Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.” John 12:15

Matthew 2:2 ”Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Don’t forget in 1 John 4:17c the scripture says …as he is, so are we in this worldwhen He was here, He was High Priest, King and Prophet. That is exactly who we are right now except the High Priest office. We are Prophets, kings and Priests and NOT High Priests. As prophets: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16 As long as you are a believer in Jesus Christ and have received Him as your personal Lord and Saviour, you have been given a ministry to run. “…And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation 2 Corinthians 5:18 “…And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.” Revelation 5:10 Jesus alone is the “…High Priest of our profession” Hebrews 3:1

Now let us deal with the different ‘anointings’. Notice in Luke 4:18 the sentence, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He HATH anointed Me.” Is in the past tense, it had already been done. Now compare this one-time anointing to Ephesians 5:18, “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.” The phrase, “be filled” here are in the durative or linear, as in continuously “be being filled” or “be filled and be filled and be filled and be filled...” Like you have a water hose put in a container with the water flowing continuously. Notice the fulness of the Holy Spirit is a durative doctrine, whereas the doctrine of the anointing is an aorist or a one-time anointing. That is, one time for each job or each responsibility. Notice above, the words in Acts 4:27, “hast anointed.” Notice the past tense and then in Acts 10:38 we have the word “anointed.” Once again, this is in the past tense.

Therefore, the anointing of the Holy Spirit was and is like the anointing of a king or a priest or a prophet. When one was chosen to be a priest, he was anointed with oil, symbolic of the Holy Spirit coming upon him and giving him power, wisdom and ability for the task set before him. The same was true when a king was anointed and when a prophet was anointed. This leads us to some conclusions.

  1. The anointing was done once upon the accepting of a new responsibility. When a Christian accepts a new responsibility, he gets anointed by the Holy Spirit for that task. Acts 13:1-4 “Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.” Notice, the church prayed, laid hands but the Holy Ghost SENT them. However, the doctrine of being filled should not be mistaken for the doctrine of the anointing.
  2. This anointing was appropriation; it equipped one for a task. When God calls, He qualifies, He equips and He prepares, as long as you are willing and yielding. Acts 13:3
  3. 3. This anointing is, in a sense, God giving His mind to the task. It is a little private ordination service. It is a private inauguration. It is a private installation service.
  4. There is no instance of anointing inanimate things, like houses, chariots, sprinkling oil on things or even drinking it for salvation of any kind, but a lot of the people of God today have made it their stock in trade. We need to correct this now! What is the difference between this practice and what the idol worshiper does to worship his idol?

The power is not in the olive oil but in the faith of the individual locked on the saviour Jesus Christ, that is the proper thing. Right from the Old Testament to the New Testament, the scriptures say “The just shall live by faith” Habakkuk 2:4, Galatians 3:11 Not just any faith but Faith on the Son of God. Many times the ministers of God ignorantly take away the people’s focus from the creator and saviour Jesus Christ to the creature; “following the fad” just to belong. That is nothing but idolatry. There is no power in the oil itself but in the name of Jesus. Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Somebody might want to tell me about the number of donkey years they have been in ministry using the “anointing oil” and its efficacy. I would never doubt a person like that. But the fact that it has been working for you those donkey years does not make it right. It has been “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost” 2 Corinthians 13:14 all the way.

It was not for nothing that it was written “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:” Isaiah 28:10 scriptures are to be taught in bits, just like a builder builds up his brick house, one brick at a time, connecting and holding them in place with mortar. The revelation of the word of God comes in bits as well. Everything does not get to you all at the same time. But the end of it is to bring glory to your maker and saviour Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God, that God the father may receive worship and praise as we grow to make a change in our lives.

A lot of ministers treat the “anointing oil” as if it is deity in itself. These days there is hardly any Pentecostal Church without a bottle of olive oil sitting majestically somewhere on the pulpit. This habit needs to stop and the people repent of this idolatry!!!

When oil is used, it should be in the proper context and the people should be well informed that it is just a symbol and that it has no power in itself.

James 5:14 instructs us “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord” did you notice what it says there? “…LET HIM CALL FOR THE ELDERS…” it is the sick that initiates the call. It is not what a man just wakes up one day and says “the Spirit of God has instructed me to organise an anointing service for the people” really? I say to you what Paul reiterated to the Ephesians “…Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is Ephesians 5:14 & 17.

Now, on the other hand, a man could decide to use that James 5:14 scripture for spiritual sickness, then go on to name poverty, lethargy, gossip etc. On the surface it may look and sound alright but no, not so. The Greek word translated “SICK” there is the word astheneo, pronounced as-then-eh’-o meaning “to be feeble, diseased, impotent or weak.” In other words it is a reference to physical sickness. A better scripture will be ones that actually deal with spiritual sickness, primarily SIN and its trail of cousins. That will be another topic on its own entirely. That may be debatable.

The Grace of God who happens to be in the person of Jesus Christ has been our ultimate shield in wrong doing. But like scripture says “…Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” Romans 6:1. You know the answer to that. The very next verse responded to that question God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” Romans 6:2. If we must serve God, it has to be on His terms and conditions, not for us to “help” the Holy Ghost who is the anointer at His assignment, which is the height of misdirected benevolence.

The little I know of God and the scriptures is that His Rhema must tally with His Logos. Simply put, any word from God must tally with His written word or else that will be against the scriptures. We know God can never go against Himself. The Psalmist tells us in Psalm 138:2 “I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” And that word of God is none else but Jesus. We are told in John 1:1 that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” You can read up to verse 15 of that chapter for the total view of who the word of God is.

Today the “anointing oil” has become a little god that many of the people of God carry everywhere they go and they do not hesitate to “pull it out into action” like the western cowboy would his pistol in case of any eventualities rather than call on the name Jesus.

THE HOLY SPIRIT (the anointer, the power house of the Godhead) IS A PERSON

John 16:7-13 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:  Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The name Christ is a Greek word. Why the English translators failed to translate it in the Bible, I do not know. But that failure has cost us a great revelation.

The word Christ is not Jesus’ last name. It is not a title. It’s a word with a very significant meaning. CHRIST actually means anointed.

To anoint like I told you earlier is literally “to pour on, smear all over, or rub into.” So the Anointing of God is to have God poured on, smeared all over, and rubbed into.

The Anointing of God is God on flesh doing only those things only God can do. Practically speaking, what does that Anointing of God on flesh do for us? According to Isaiah 10:27, it destroys the yoke of bondage. That verse of scripture is actually in reference to the Lord Jesus. Jesus is actually the ANOINTING; that is what His name depicts. Isaiah was speaking prophetically over the situation the children of Israel found themselves. That was why he told them their yoke will be DESTROYED because of the ANOINTING (Christ). That is part of the reason why Jesus does not have a last name other than the Christ which means “The Anointed” Some people say the anointing breaks the yoke. If it is that Isaiah verse they mean then it is simply Not True! When you break a thing you can still pick up some fragments of that item. The word used there in the King James Version is not break but DESTROY. Let’s define the word BREAK, what it means.

The Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines it as to “-separate (something) into parts or pieces often in a sudden and forceful or violent way” The word used in the book of Isaiah like I said isn’t break, it is “DESTROY”.

Same dictionary defines ‘Destroy’ as “to cause (something) to end or no longer exist: to cause the destruction of (something): to damage (something) so badly that it cannot be repaired” It literally means destruction to the extent there is no evidence the yoke ever existed.  God knew what He was talking about. Where the anointing (Jesus The Christ) is involved, He does a perfect job. Hallelujah!!! Like I said earlier, Jesus is actually the ANOINTED as His name says. Right from the Old Testament to the New Testament all references point to Him and His activities including the Isaiah 10:27 verse.

Whatever the Lord Jesus destroys, it stays destroyed. “And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.” Isaiah 22:22, “Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.” Job 12:14, “…These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;” Revelation 3:7

Now, let’s do something here.  Let’s go to Ephesians 2:11-13. Translate the word Christ wherever it exists to anointed. Let’s see what we miss out most of the time “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh…were without (the Anointed One), being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in (the Anointed) Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of (the Anointed One) WOW! Did you see that? It is all about the anointing. I say Amen, Hallelujah!

So according to those scriptures, before you were born again, you were without the Anointed One. If you were without the Anointed One, you were also without the anointing, right? But now, you are in the Anointing of Jesus. That anointing is available to you in every situation to Destroy (obliterate completely!) every yoke of bondage. I believe this too is part of the “…Greater works…” Jesus talked about John 14:12b

This is why you can have hope in the most hopeless situation. You can break out of that hopeless situation if you’ll factor in the anointing of the anointed

So you see? You are not about to be anointed, you already are, if you are in Christ. Why so? Because we are now the “TABANACLE”, the TEMPLE OF THE HOLY GHOST” He indwells us now as in the body, the church of Jesus Christ. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16 and in our individual lives. “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19

That is why I said before and say again, you cannot pure that olive oil to anoint your vehicles, houses, animals, clothes or anything else outside of a living human being for it is God who anoints people and He certainly does not anoint things, not in this dispensation of the New Testament anyway. The Holy Ghost does not live in things but in people. Even when it comes to the human being, there are specific instructions on how to go about it.

In the first ordination recorded in the book of Acts of the Apostles, notice the pattern, nothing like olive oil was present. Let’s take a look again at the book of Acts 13:1-4 “Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.” That was because, just like now, the anointer, the Holy Ghost was present. Notice, the church prayed and fasted, laid hands on the two chosen men but the Holy Ghost SENT them forth.

Notice: No drama of oil smearing in the name of anointing here or anywhere else in the New Testament concerning ministry. However, the doctrine of being filled should not be mistaken for the doctrine of the anointing. I explained the difference earlier.

Now note this again; there is nothing like “special anointing, double portion anointing, He is more anointed than…” or statements like “That service was dripping with the anointing” “he is heavily anointed” etc. In this dispensation of the New Testament, you can never be more anointed than anybody neither can you increase nor decrease the anointing.

The anointing is the same for everybody, He is a Person, right from the ‘greatest’ minister to the newly born child of God today. It is the same person that inhabits all, the power house of the Almighty God called the Holy Ghost resident in the believer. Yes, we can have greater gifts than each other to operate in an office and do greater things, we can be more submitted or yielded to the Lord more than each other but the Spirit is the same. 1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. You may read the whole of 1 Corinthians 12 for more information on that, Amen.

He is the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, (That should tell you He is resident on the inside of you) he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Not a similar one but the same one that raised Christ from the dead, He resides in us. You cannot add to nor subtract from Him, He cannot and does not reside in inanimate things.

Though a member of the Godhead, you can actually discourage His work in you. In 1 Thessalonians 5:19 we are told “Quench not the Spirit” The word translated “quench” is the Greek word sbennumi, pronounced (sben’-noo-mee) meaning to extinguish (literally or figuratively):-go out or quench.

The Holy Spirit is sometimes represented as fire in the Bible because it is His job to enlighten and quicken the soul; and to purge, purify, and refine it.  The Holy Spirit is represented as being “quenched” when any act is done, word spoken, or temper indulged, contrary to His dictates.  He is the Spirit of love, and therefore anger, malice, revenge, or any unkind or unholy temper, will quench it so that He will withdraw His influences; and then the heart is left in a state of hardness, coldness and darkness. Fire may be quenched when you throw water on it as well as by heaping earth on it. In other words, the love of the world (partaking in their life style) will as effectually grieve and quench the Spirit as any ordinary act of transgression.

Please Note here, that scripture did not say the Spirit leaves you, but rather He goes quiet, out of action for He is the “perfect gentle man” when you put out fire that does not mean it cannot be ignited again just that at this time, conditions are not favorable for combustion. The Holy Spirit NEVER leaves the believer no matter the circumstance. Jesus said “…lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20. “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5

Every genuine Christian is made a partaker of the Spirit of God; and he who has not the spirit of Christ is none of his. “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” Romans 8:9. Because you are a child of the Most High God you have been earmarked for blessings, just live right, in the righteousness that you have been given. God is looking out for an opportunity to bless you. He even works out your worse situations to your advantage. “And we know that all things (not some things) work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28. You will not see Him, but He is there.

I believe you must have heard the saying “he that pays the piper dictates the tune.“ It is very true of God. If we claim we are serving God, He demands it must be with knowledge and true understanding of His written word in the Bible, not ours or what our spiritual leader says or somebody’s personal experience no matter how highly placed. The onus is on you to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 That verse literally means ‘to study the word of God, even the one in the flesh –Jesus, so well that God Himself is proud of you’ you see, God will not do that for you, He already gave you all that you need in His written word to know Him, for your own good. Jesus is the word of God who became flesh like us just for our own good. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” John 1:14

We must learn that it takes spirit to connect to The Spirit John 4:23-24 “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” The Lord told His people in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge…” Just learn to lean on the anointer (The Holy Spirit) and He will bring you to all truths John 16:13

In summing up this topic, I told you the “anointing oil” as is being used today contradicts what the scriptures say. Once you are in Christ, it makes you an anointed of the Lord because Jesus is THE ANOINTED one and “… your life is hid with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3. You do not need any other addition. Even when you are called into a ministerial office, it is not mandatory to smear your head in oil, though it may not be a sin in itself; but it is certainly not a New Testament practice. I shared Acts 13:1-4 with you as the only example we have in the New Testament. I told you that as a child of God, you are a Priest, King and a Prophet all in one. That was how Jesus walked the face of this earth “…because as he is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17 I said ministers should stop misdirecting the people of God in the name of “anointing oil” They should show and direct them to the creator Jesus and not the creature –olive oil. It is all misguided and misdirected. They should be taught to put all their trust on Him. With their hope locked on He that never fails and continually be “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

If you must use the oil, it cannot and should NOT be used to “anoint” just anything. This is the New Testament dispensation. It is meant for human beings especially those who are sick. It is certainly not meant for the anointing of cars, houses, pets, drinking or sprinkling around to ward off evil spirits. I call it the unabridged display of amplified obtuseness galvanized in ludicrously compacted philistinism. In the Old Testament God anointed both men and things for His use but not anymore. Today, with the New Covenant in operation the anointing is strictly for man for “…the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,” Act 7:48 and no man is more anointed than the other. Every born again believer in Christ has exactly the same anointing in the person of Jesus Christ. The difference is simply the gift to perform in the office of the individual and his level of yieldingness. Again, there is nothing like “an anointed service”, “anointed music” generally anointed things, for the anointing lives in man in this New Testament era as we can see in the scripture above.

The people of God must learn to study the written word of God. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15. There is no other way to guard against being gullible to every exhibition of unsolicited folly of a supposed man of God in the zenith of his self delusion. Honestly extruding his sincerely packaged ignorance with a similitude of divine attendance without the true ecclesiastical apparatus.

The saving grace has always and will always be Grace Himself –Jesus the Christ. “ For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;”  Titus 2:11 For it is by grace you have been saved” Ephesians 2:8 Jesus (Grace) saved you. The Grace of God is Jesus Christ. He is the one that has consistently pled our case before God “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus1 Timothy 2:5 until the final day of rewarding believers in Christ.

But as at now, there is still time for repentance since you are reading this write up. Make a change; stop misguiding the people of God. Direct them to the “Author and finisher of their faith –Jesus Hebrews 12:2 and not to a self designed and applied idol called “THE ANOINTING OIL” and God will greatly bless and reward you for it, Amen

God Bless You
