The "Seed Faith" Giving

The “Seed Faith” Giving

The “Seed Faith” Giving

Father God I thank you for today and the word going out in your name. Be glorified in this in Jesus Name, Amen.

When seed faith giving is preached, very often it is misunderstood to mean that the minister is just asking for money to enrich himself. But on the contrary, seed faith giving blesses the giver more that the given. For the giver like God can use money primarily to decide and determine whatever seed he is sowing, what he is expecting to receive from God and in faith, call that thing into being like God did in the first chapter of the book of Genesis when He created the Earth and everything in it, calling “…those things which be not as though they were.” Romans 4:17 and through the faith of the giver God honours the request.

Let me give you a little background history here, it’s a story you already know or at least you have some idea. From the beginning, before Adam’s creation, this earth was the domain of Lucifer. The earth was under his jurisdiction, God had allowed it.

Remember, Jesus called him the “…the prince of this world…” John 12:31. In 2 Corinthians 4:4 He is called “The god of this world…” in Ephesians. 2:2 “the prince of the power of the air” God made him very beautiful and powerful, for he was a Cherub. Cherubim are beside and around the throne of God. These are fifteen foot creatures. 1 Kings 6:26. Their primary duty is to constantly glorify and praise God; these are very powerful living beings with four wings and four faces. See Ezekiel 1:4-14 Lucifer was their leader then, for the Bible called him “the anointed cherub that covereth”. Ezekiel 28:14

Lucifer is one of the three archangels mentioned in Scripture. He was created by God just as all angels were, but his role was different from the other angelic hosts. Lucifer was referred to like I told you, as thecherub that covereth.’ just as the cherubim covered the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant with the children of Israel. Lucifer was established by God to be the angel of worship, one whose ministry surrounded the heart of the throne of God in heaven, right in His very presence. Ezekiel 28:14.

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.” Ezekiel 28:13-19

His beauty and perfection got to him, Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness:” Ezekiel 28:17 for he thought to himself I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” Isaiah 14:4 in other words, he was saying “I will take my throne and establish it far beyond what I’ve been given, because this earth is not enough for me. I will break the gravity of this earth, and walk among the stars. I’m going to be the top dog in this universe like the Most High.” Clouds are above the earth his domain but that was not enough for him. He wanted to be “like the most High” and be above the rest of the angels (stars) of God. He wanted God’s place. That was treason. God did not apportion that part to him but he wanted to covet it. By that evil desire he stepped beyond his bounds. So God had to do the only reasonable thing that befits a tyrant like Lucifer. Put him in his place. God threw him down back to his domain –the earth.

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:7-9

Jesus recalled in Luke 10:18 “…I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven“

Isaiah had talked about him too. “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!” Isaiah 14: 12. The Bible records that Lucifer messed up the nations that existed on earth at that time. Then God froze the earth in palpable darkness. This was before Adam’s creation.

In Genesis 1:1-2 it is written “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Creation was done with, and some form of life was resident here. But in verse two it states… “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

The phrase translated “…without form, and void…” are two Hebrew words tohuw, (Pronounced to’-hoo) and bohuw, (Pronounced bo’-hoo) meaning “to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), i.e. desert; figuratively, a worthless thing; adverbially, in vain:–confusion” and “an undistinguishable ruin:–emptiness respectively”. After the original creation something happened to the earth and it became a wasted, “worthless and an undistinguishable ruin.” This definitely was not unconnected to Lucifer’s madness for God had finished the original creation before it was messed up.

In Genesis 1:3 God had to start a new process of creation, He recreated that “worthless undistinguishable ruin” “…God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Now, don’t forget that in verse two it was recorded that “…the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” The Hebrew word translated “MOVED” here is the word rachaph, (Pronounced raw-khaf’) meaning “to brood;” like mother hen would over her eggs to give warmth.

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:3. What light was God talking about here? For the sun was not created until the fourth day, this was still the first day. Right from the top of my head since the first man was created in God’s image and likeness, I would simply say God needed a plan for this “Project Earth” just like a man would before embarking on a project. So like the architect would pen his ideas on paper; God spoke His into being after surveying the area for the project. In other words He said “’let there be a plan’ or simply ‘plan for project earth manifest’”

But let’s leave conjecture and get back to scriptures. That is all that matters. The word translated “light” in this verse is the Hebrew word ‘owr, (Pronounced ore) meaning illumination or (concrete) luminary in every sense of the word. We know that light from nature often comes with some form of warmth. As you may know, everything that has life on earth derives some form of energy from the sun. The original Hebrew word rwa signifies not only light but fire, as we can see from the other translations of the same word in other parts of scripture. And as you know, fire comes with warmth.

“…saith the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.” Isaiah 31:9b

“Thou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city…” Ezekiel 5:2a.

Same word is used for the Sun, in Job 31:26a “If I beheld the sun when it shined…” and for electric fluid or LIGHTNING, “…and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.” Job 37:3b. And in Isaiah 44:16, for the heat, derived from (‘esh), the fire.He burneth part thereof in the fire (va wmb bemo esh:) yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha! I have seen the fire rwa.

My point is this, since God was about to create life, there had to be something to keep it alive, a life sustainer, some form of maintenance plan for the creatures that will be in it. That life sustainer was the warmth from the light of Genesis 1:3.

This might sound like some form of conjecture but I believe this was the point at which God kick started the rotation of the earth to make Day and Night. Since the sun is stationary and the earth is spherical, for the earth to have equal opportunity in receiving the light He just created out of nothing, the earth had to be in perpetual motion on a steady pace that requires its rotation round its own axis once in twenty-three hours, fifty-six minutes, and four seconds, (23:56:04) which is the exact time it takes to make a complete day and night. If the earth were to remain stationary, I believe half of it would have been too dry and the other half too frozen. This perpetual motion action will eventually be used as a measure of time for the creatures coming. God just carved out time from His eternity by naming the light “DAY” and the darkness “NIGHT” Genesis 1:5. This is another creation from God that we call TIME today.

God had to call out dry ground, the earth from inside the water where it was buried on the third day of creation, a type of baptism. For the earth was in ruins, dead in death. Just like Jesus was in the belly of the earth for three days and three nights. “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Matthew 12:40. The earth provides every singular item for life’s physical sustenance (nourishment and the rest) just as “…Christ, who is our life…” Colossians 3:4a is the believer’s “…all in all” Ephesians 1:23b

So in Genesis 1:9-10 there was a type of resurrection for the earth on the third day. The Greek word translated Resurrection in the New Testament is the word anastasis, (Pronounced an-as’-tas-is) it means a standing up again, i.e. (literally) a resurrection from death. So if the word means ‘standing up again’ that should tell you it was up before and something happened that changed its initial disposition. That something got it swallowed up in water, prompting God to raise it up again. No thanks to Lucifer who got the earth “…sown in corruption; (but God got it) raised in incorruption” 1 Corinthians 15:42 until the sin of man corrupted the earth again.

So, at this point, life was given back to the earth on the third day. God spoke, and “…said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.” Genesis 1: 11-12.

Notice, there was no planting. He just called all the vegetations into being then added that they should come up with their seed –for continuity. Not just one plant or tree with seed but in their variants. That meant plants and trees without seed for in their stem was life for their own regeneration.

Don’t forget, God spoke them into being and authorized their continuity. If He had done any planting on the third day He would have negated the resurrection principle which was to be on the third day, bringing out life. Not just that, the number three represents the Godhead, Father, Son and the Holy Ghost. Planting or sowing represents death. “Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die1 Corinthians 15: 36, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit” John 12: 24. If God had sown even a single seed on that third day, the resurrection of Jesus which brought life may not have taken place that third day. For like I said, sowing represents death for the ground covers it just like water covered the earth in “baptism” for water coverage is a type of death or burial as well. “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

But for the believer, he did not remain buried, because the Bible says you are… Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead Colossians 2:12. It is the operation of the FAITH OF GOD that brings about the new resurrected man. God works with faith too for Himself. That is why we as humans must operate on that same frequency –Faith. And as His adopted children who must be like Him Ephesians 1: 5 “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will”

We as the body of Christ are already resurrected with Him. We are not going to be but we already are. Ephesians 2:6 declares that God “…hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”

In our new nature, we are already seated with Christ in the heavenly places.” We are now like Christ, different from before we were born again. That is because the Bible records that Adam was originally made in the image and likeness of God; And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” Genesis 1:26 but when he fell, he became corrupted, his offspring was in his own image and likeness, no more that of God “And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth” Genesis 5:3 his son, sinful and defiled, frail and mortal, and miserable like himself; not only a man like himself, consisting of body and soul; but a sinner like himself, guilty and obnoxious, degenerate and corrupt. He was conceived and born in sin, Psalm 51:5 records…“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Subsequently every human being born since then had been in Adam’s own image and likeness, the reverse of what God made him, having lost that divine, holy nature himself he could not pass it on to his seed. That was why the birth of Jesus had to circumvent the natural process of things. The seed of the man was not needed. That was why He was born sinless. If not for sin, we would have been exactly like the father, the way Adam was from the beginning.

So like I said, from Adam to this day, minus Jesus, every human being born of a woman comes in the image and likeness of Adam -sinful. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” Romans 5:12. But thank God for Jesus “For he (God) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

“And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.Ephesians 4:24 “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:” Colossians 3:10. This is now something we have to receive by faith and act on as new creatures in Christ.

In that vein, we, the born again Christian, in our regenerated new life have imputed authority from the Lord Jesus. “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” John 20:21. Plus everything minus nothing “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:17. Just like God in the book of Genesis 1:11 commanded that plants with their seeds should manifest and they did. Taking a leaf from God, for we cannot reinvent the wheel but we can take from the “plants” that already came out on that day and plant our own seed.

This is not the third day of creation. Several “times and Seasons” have come and gone, but we can set up our own “time and season,” plant our own seed and believe God to give it the body we ask of it. How? Simple, by our actions of FAITH. If you believe God for something you have to show the proof by your actions, sow a seed towards it because “…faith without works is dead” James 2: 20b

You ask “what kind of seed can I sow?” All kinds, for there are many types of natural seeds available to the farmer. In our case we could sow our time, labour, talent etc but primarily there is one that can stand in place of them all.

Well, just relax and I will explain. In Ecclesiastes 10:19b scripture records that “…money answereth all things.” Not just that, it adds… “For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence….” Ecclesiastes 7:12

At this point in our civilization as humans, money has become one of the units of measuring the worth of a man. A man works for thirty days and gets his pay or runs his business the way he likes it for profit. All work for the money. That man had put in his sweat to earn that money just like God told Adam in Genesis 3:19 “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread…” so for a man to eat, he has to sweat. He puts in himself, his time and effort, all that sums up to his life to make that money. So in essence, what he makes in a month is now equated to his worth for that month. Just like the Godhead came together and decided to create an image and likeness of the trio. Man as well can do the same and decide what body he wants of it.

Now, this is on the side. If I decide to take from the Godhead and create a similitude of man, I would say God the Father is a type of man’s Spirit, the Holy Ghost is a type of man’s Soul and Jesus being the only revealed member of the Godhead will be a type of man’s body. That covers the image and likeness of God outside of the physical attributes hands, mouth, nose, eyes and the rest of them.

When there is a need in the life of a man, whatever that need may be. Like the Spirit of God, that man can “Brood over” the situation and speak words of faith to it for the desired change. He calls up the situation he desires in faith. But better still, God has given us a much better tool to use. He told the plants He called up to have their seed as they shot out of the ground. In Genesis 8:22, the Bible records “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” We too can do the same and then trust God to honour our work of faith. “…because as he is, so are we in this world” 1 John 4:17. No difference. In our new birth as Christians, we now have the life and love of God working in us through Christ. “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:5 God knew that if we are to be like Him and as productive, we will need one of His attributes –Love. 1 John 4:8. That is because without His love, our faith can never function the right way. That is why we are told “…faith which worketh by love.” Galatians 5:6

Love is the fuel that ignites faith into action. For us to be able to please God, we need active faith. “… without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6. That is why we must love positively to energize our faith to please God in our doings.

Since in Ecclesiastes 10:19b scripture records that “…money answereth all things” the money man makes can be used as a measure for his worth, that money now becomes the worth of “his life” here on earth as regarded by men. That worth (money) becomes like the seed that came along with the plants of Genesis 8.

When God said in Genesis 1:26 “…Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” the Godhead put Himself into creating man after Himself. So when a man wants to sow a seed as well, he can take the whole or a part of that seed (Money he has worked for, which has become his life worth) then ask God in faith for whatever request he brings before Him so He could give it the new body he is believing God for as scripture says “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit John 12: 24. Not just that, it is written …that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: (In this case the seed or grain is money that has been sown in faith) But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed (This is where your faith has to please God so He could give your seed…) his own body.” 1 Corinthians 15:37-38, Hebrews 11:6 “…without faith it is impossible to please him…”

God is the ultimate creator. If you remember the story of the widow’s mite who gave just two mites, for that was all she had Mark 12:44 “For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.” She gave “…ALL HER LIVING”. Everything she worked for, her life’s worth went in with those two little mites. That was why the Lord Jesus said she gave more than the other guys who gave part out of the abundance of what they had. The determining factor is the level of deprivation of that individual.

In 1 Kings 17 the widow of Zarephath gave the last food items she had kept behind for just herself and the son to Elijah at his request. And that singular act of faith kept her and the son all through the farming that was in the land.

I can never overemphasize this, let me repeat it. The seed (money) is put into the house or work of God, then link it to a need in your life. At that point that seed “dies” to the sower. Like the farmer that puts his seed into the ground he becomes expectant and even possibly waters the seed waiting for the day he sees the plant sprout and an eventual harvest. The farmer’s seed does not sprout as a seed but a plant. It comes out of the ground with a different body from the seed he had planted. “…God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.” 1 Corinthians 15:38. Your level of faith needs to please God for you to get your desired result. It’s a principle in faith sowing. When this money is sown or given for anything in the work of God and a need is attached to it, it is only the faith of the giver that can make it work to deliver that which he desires of it. It is your faith in believing for the result that God honours. Your faith has to please God first. Remember in Hebrews 11:6 it is recorded that “…without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Then you ask, “Must it be given to the Church? What if I gave it out to charity, isn’t it the same thing?” No. It is not the same thing. The principle we find in the scriptures point to the house of God, to the ministers of God. Charity has its own blessing as well. But for Seed Faith, it has to be in the house of God. In the Old Testament they were told “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse…(PLEASE NOTE: seed faith sowing or tithing is not mandatory, See my write up on TITHE and FIRST FRUITS they are free will offerings. The storehouse in this case is the house of God, the worship centre) “…that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it”  Malachi 3:10  “Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10

The two scriptures above are by no means a must for the New Testament believer. But they are principles that can and will work for whosoever puts them into use. It has a status for universal application.

Let me share with you thoughts from Oral Roberts, the father of seed faith giving. “Everything in life starts with a seed—including the things we receive by faith. In Genesis 8:22, God says, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” The eternal law of seedtime and harvest, planting and reaping, giving and receiving will not change as long as the earth remains. Jesus compared faith to a seed being planted to get a result: “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” Matthew 17:20.

When we put our faith in God’s hands like a seed we plant, we are giving God something to work with, and He will send the miracle we need. No matter how small our faith seems to be, it will meet needs and solve problems that appear as impossible to move as mountains. This is because each act of faith is a seed planted and will be multiplied many times.

The Seed-Faith principle that we find in the Bible contains three keys:

Recognize that God is our Source.

Philippians 4:19 says, “…my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” God will supply our need according to His riches, His love for us, His power to help us, and His wisdom to guide us. He may use many different instruments—a job, gifts, doctors, friends, family—to meet our need. But He alone is the Source, and He alone cannot fail.

Give first, so that it may be given unto us.

Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you.” We must first plant a seed of faith so that God can multiply it back to meet our need. Jesus is talking about giving in the deepest sense of the word—the giving of ourselves to God. This includes anything we can give—love, time, patience, forgiveness, finances, prayer, whatever we have. Our giving reflects our trust in God and our thankfulness. It links us to God’s inexhaustible resources for our every need. There is no way we can give to God without receiving something back from Him, multiplied!

Expect a miracle.

Mark 11:24 says, “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” The moment we ask God for something—the moment we do our part and plant our seed of faith—we should believe God that the answer is on its way. It is important to expect our miracle so we can recognize it and reach forth to take it when it comes. And it’s also important to remember that God controls the time and method He will use to give back to us. We must keep trusting God and expecting our miracle, no matter how long it takes to reach us.”

So, give God something to work with. No matter how little you think you have, sow it in joy and faith, knowing in your heart that you are sowing seed so you may reap miracles. Then start expecting all kinds of miracles! Remember, God always sends the right answer at the right time, in the right way. His timing and methods are always exactly right for our lives!”

So, let’s move to the next level in seed faith giving and God will prosper us all round, Amen.
